The six-man Executive Committee headed by CEO Patrick Thomas is responsible for the strategic alignment and for the overall business activities of Bayer MaterialScience worldwide. The Committee takes investment decisions, specifies the product portfolio and works out the company’s values and objectives. To ensure that the company can better respond to its employees’ needs (and hence to customer needs) on a permanent basis, the Executive Committee is pushing ahead with the rapid, practical implementation of realignment in all areas of Bayer MaterialScience, on both a global and regional level.



The product portfolio of Bayer MaterialScience is spread over three business units, each of which has global responsibility for key functions such as research, development, production, technology and marketing. They are supported by service units, which are responsible for process optimization and for implementing business support procedures. All in all, Bayer MaterialScience has been structured in such a way that it can optimally respond to customers’ needs.
