Thin layers for tough surfaces.

Desmopan® and Texin® can also display their prowess in the form of wafer-thin films. One highly promising application is the combination of these films with other materials.

Extruded films made of Desmopan® have been in use for some considerable time, for example as air-protected packaging. Even in their thinnest form, the films are extremely tear resistant and highly extensible. For this reason, they can also be used in combination with glass to manufacture safety glass with increased resistance to hurricanes and bullets. TPU is also highly compatible with textile fabrics. The two materials can be combined by calendering, extrusion coating and powder coating. A typical example of an industrial fabric of this kind is the underlay sheeting used in the construction industry.
