Board of Managements Departments - Bayer MaterialScience
Patrick Thomas is CEO and as such responsible for fundamental strategic planning, corporate development and management of resources. He is also responsible for the „Communications“, „Corporate Development“ and „Human Resources“ units.

Tony Van Osselaer is Labor Director and responsible for the “Industrial Operations” sector, whose functions include plant safety and improving the efficiency, reliability and technological leadership of the production facilities. The “Inorganic Basic Chemicals”, “Technology Services”, “Procurement” and “Health, Safety, Environment, Quality” units and also the large production sites in Baytown, USA, and Shanghai, China, all report to the head of “Industrial Operations”. The interdisciplinary function “Corporate Energy Policy & Reporting” is also integrated in this sector.

Axel Steiger-Bagel as CAO is responsible for the administrative service units of Bayer MaterialScience in his sector. These service units act as capable and efficient partners to the business units in the „Accounting and Controlling“, „Center of Excellence“, „Law and Patents“ and „Organization and Information Systems“ units.

Responsibility for the operations of Bayer MaterialScience lies with the business units: „Coatings, Adhesives and Sealants“ headed by Joachim Wolff, „Polycarbonates“, Günter Hilken, „Polyurethanes“, Peter Vanacker and „Thermoplastic Polyurethanes“, Tim Bielfeldt. The chlorine and sodium hydroxide solution business is handled by “Industrial Operations”.

Various subsidiaries and affiliated companies are integrated into the structure of the business units.
