Biography

Dr. Axel Steiger-Bagel Member of the Executive Committee of Bayer MaterialScience, member of the Board of Management of Bayer MaterialScience AG, Chief Administration Officer

Since March 1, 2007, Dr. Axel Steiger-Bagel has been a member of the Board of Management of Bayer MaterialScience AG. As the Chief Administration Officer (CAO) he is responsible for Administration and Services. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of this Bayer subgroup. He was previously Senior Bayer Representative and Bayer HealthCare Senior Country Representative in Turkey.

Born on December 29, 1967, in Düren, Germany, Axel Steiger-Bagel trained as a bank clerk before taking a law degree. After graduating, he went on to obtain a PhD in international company law. He then spent around two years working for a law firm before he joined the Legal Department at Bayer AG in 1999. At the beginning of 2002 he transferred to the staff department serving the Board of Management of Bayer AG, where he worked as assistant to the Chairman of the Board of Management. He took up his functions in Turkey in mid-2006.

Axel Steiger-Bagel is married and has one child.
