Epurex Films - Versatile Films for Everyday Life.

In the field of technical films based on thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), Epurex Films can look back on more than 25 years of experience with products specifically developed for technical applications. The continued development of expertise and responsibility has convinced an increasing number of users of the high quality standards of these films. Today, the portfolio of films for technical applications serves diverse markets and applications, and a team of experts assists the customers with the selection of the appropriate product.

The business began as the "Polyurethane Films Business Unit" of Wolff Walsrode AG. On January 1, 2001, Wolff Walsrode carved out this activity and named it Epurex Films. Today Epurex Films and the sister company Deerfield Urethane are Bayer MaterialScience companies.

By using state-of-the-art blown film and sheet extrusion lines, Epurex Films is able to manufacture a broad range of products to meet individual customer specification.

Beside high standards of quality, a state of the art equipment with testing and processing machinery for the laboratories and production lines is part of the corporate philosophy.

Some examples of applications

TPU-Films that are highly permeable to water vapour and, due to their overall spectrum of characteristics, are particularly suitable as functional components in the manufacture of sportswear, leisurewear and weatherproof clothing, occupational and protective apparel, footwear and gloves, engineering composites for the automotive industry and medical/surgical items such as mattress covers, plasters and incision films. Walotex® polyurethane films are characterized by high water vapour transmission and a pleasantly soft hand.

Other applications e.g in the automotive industry require materials which have superb mechanical properties, high thermal stability, absence of any plasticizers, soft hand, and high resistance to chemicals such as lubricants, fuels and oils, and which can also be processed easily and reliably.
These requirements are all met by our performance-proven Walopur® and Platilon® films. Sound absorbing components are protected by the TPU films from moisture and contamination. Their high elasticity enables these films to transmit sound waves to the acoustical foam throughout a wide frequency range.
